I was going to buy four of these little fellas today, then I seen the "12.5cm max size" so I never.

How many will be O.K (if any) in a 190L, well filterd with 2 Angel Fish, 10 Cardinal Tetra, 5 Harlequin and 2 Bolivian Rams?

I just had to look that up as my keyhole never got any bigger then about 3inch, i found this;

"Can apparently reach 6" (15cm), but aquarium specimens almost never exceed 4" (10cm).
Females are usually a little smaller than males, at around 3" (7.5cm)."

Yeah a pair could work :) I reckon 3 inches for a male max I have seen people state 6 inches for a male but never seen them in the flesh or a photo. I had some for about 2 years and the male got to 3 inches and the female a little smaller, but similar sized.

Quite a timid fish and for me quite a few other options cichlid wise...

I wouldn't, you already have two cichlid species in there, which is probably enough.

I have seen 6" fish on a few occasions, but only when kept in much larger tanks, but even my alpha male is 5" without tail, female is smaller.

They are meant to be quite well behaved I've heard and read. Thats why I was going to choose those.

I might get two and see how they get on :)

I would love to see a 6 incher Keyhole!! They would look incredible I reckon with those great markings. Mine were in a 90g for 2 years and didnt get over 3 inches, believe me I wanted them to get to 6 inches :/

I think in a 40g with a decent foot print like the Trigons I reckon that you could get away with 2 pairs of dwarfs with the Angels.

:lol: I had to laugh when I seen they get to 6inch! I thought "Hmm now I'm pritty sure thats far too big for my tank" holding my arms out the lenght of my tank telling the other half to hold her fingers 6inch and see how crazy it would look in the middle of the shop :rofl:.

I'll go for a pair :good: see how they get on! Should be fine imo, was just worried about sizes lol.

Cheers!

They donn't get to 6". Mine is a fully grown, healthy male, and he is about 3". Lovely fish, one or two would work well in your tank. Best to get a group of juvis though and see which ones get on, or else just get one :good: They are quite shy fish, but your cardinals should make them more confident.
