I went in my local Walmart today to check on the fish (which they have been taking great care of since I reported them to the home office :sly: ) and noticed two things. Firstly, they had dragon fish/violet gobies and "mixed fruit" tetras, which they never have. Secondly, the tank with baby oscars had a sign which read "DO NOT SALE ANY FISH FROM THIS TANK!" I guess someone had reserved them or something, since they seemed healthy.... Anyway, being the grammar fanatic I am, I took it upon myself to correct the sign (sale = sell), which gave me a good idea.
I took my handy post-it notes out of my purse and made a note for both the dragon fish and tetras. The one I put on the dragon fish tank read "We are a brackish water species and need a SG of about 1.005"
For the tetras, the sign read "We are artificially dyed. Our lifespans are shortened and our colour will fade away over time"

Just doing my part to keep customers informed.

RAOFLMAO!!

If I was you I'd go back again today and see if they've amended their own signs to include your helpful instructions! Or if they've just left them on the tanks.

Next time I go to buy fish I'll remember to take my post its with me just in case.

Synirr,
I was 100% sure you were a guy, until that purse comment. I guess I'll have to change my mental picture, or should I? I guess a guy could carry post-its in his purse... :fun:

That's what I get for never reading user profiles. I don't even know exactly why I thought you were a guy...Oh, well. Gotta love the anonymous internet, eh?

I LOVE the post it idea. It is a good one. I am far too afraid of confrontation to put reality to a Walmart employee, but post-its when no one is around...that I could do. They will probably take them down, but a few people might be reached before they do.

You could always take it a step further....

On the flame tetras:

"we are likely to have ich and will infect all your other fish if you don't quarantine us for at least 2 weeks"

On the angelfish:

"yes, we DO get along with neons. They're welcome to dinner anytime!"

Not that I'm sore or anything.
:grr:

did you sneek over to the betta side? :p

Good on ya for doing it

That was a good thing you did, maybe I should start doing the post-it notes at my lfs.
The bad grammar at my lfs irks me a little too, but most of the time I tend not to mind.

hell yeah, ill have to remember that (to bring post its that is)

I tend to go to much by people's avatars. That gorgeous oscar puss doesn't scream "Lovely purse toting lady" to me.

We don't have a General Talk forum on here, which is where most of the other forums I go to have "Introduce Youself" type forums.

Anyway, I hate hijacking threads to veer off on tangents, but well... sometimes it happens.

I personally do have a purse, I am just too disorganized to remember where the post-its are.

People on the internet always think I'm a guy for some reason
I guess I don't have the most effeminate personality in the world... which is just the way I like it! Meek, quiet and submissive? No sir!

I'm gonna go check and see if my notes are still there after class tomorrow... and replace them if they're not
