Well, I already learned that you can put a single demasoni without destroying a tank of existing species. Currently, my tank contains only P Aceis and Yellow Labs so it is considered peaceful.

My real question is, does this apply to Johanni as well? Do they keep their aggression within their own species or do they go after other species as well? Should I stick to the addition of a single demasoni only?

Basically, now I realized that I don't have any fishes with stripes. Don't care if they are horizontal or vertical, as long as they look attractive. I like the look of both demasoni and johanni.

Appreciate some feedback! :D

A single demasoni could work fine, they're definately worst with their own kind, but they've been known to be pretty nasty none the less. In my experience the Johanni would be a wiser choice between them. What size tank is this for?

The tank is small for cichlids - 33g, with 3ft foot print. I've been reading messages from those who keep one demasoni with their "peaceful" mbunas and they are confirming that it is working well for them. Having two of them is another story, but one in a tank works well.

But I'm not sure if this applies to johanni - do they show aggression to other species as well? I will not have any species in the tank that will resemble either demasoni or johanni.

I have 3 Johanni in my 4ft tank and they beat the hell out of eachother quite alot! They don't touch any other fish though so I would presume this would apply if they were on their own too. I must confess I've never kept them on their own though. :/
