I'm still trying to figure out what to have in my tank. I'd love a male betta, but I'd also like 4-6 females. Would this work, or would the male fight? I can't seem to find a straight answer, some sites say yes, some no... help!

The definite answer would be NO, do not keep them together, they WILL fight. I don't see how you couldn't be getting a straight answer, because this issue is pretty clear cut. Males and females are only to be kept together for brief periods during mating, and only when you know what you're doing.

Thanks, I definitely read somewhere that you could have one male and females together as long as there was more than 3 females. Unfortunately there seems to be alot of bad info sites out there. At least here I'll get a truthful answer.

Thank you!

Hmm..... :/ couldn't imagine people would reccomend keeping males and females together, though I have seen it mentioned on one website, which really struck me as odd and now I don't trust that site. :p

i think it depends on how much abuse of the females you're ready to tolerate. some people are ok with some serious fighting and the resultant damage. of course, these people generally don't last very long here at TFF.

what's best for your bettas is to keep the males separate. otherwise you'll always have fin damage, skin lesions, and terrorized females.
