Hi, currently have a problem with my rio 180 bowing in the middle. This is causing the black lid to not sit properly. It seems perfectly straight at the back with the bowing actually occuring on the front galss.

The tank is perfectly level and filled up to the max water level mark.

I contacted Juwel via email, and they said to get my tank checked by my supplier of which I have now done.

My supplier came out to me yesterday and agreed that the tank is bowed and they would contact Juwel to organise a replacement.

Today they got back to me and said that a replacement was ok, but it was mentioned that they knew of several tanks, which had this bowing and had the same measurements as mine, 406mm either end but 412mm in the middle. They said that although a replacement was forthcoming if I wanted one, the worry was that in say a months time, the new tank would take the same form.

Has anyone else using this forum had a similar problem, or could you please measure your tanks and let me know if you have similar dimensions.

Cheers

Andy

Mines the same. Seems that the tank top braces are not up to much, and because of that, the tanks bow. Was it Julie that told you this by any chance? Seems that she is the main 'fobber off' in the office. It's simple, Juwel need to do a little more work to make the tanks better. A filter with no noise, and a top brace that don't bow with the glass, and a lighting unit that doesnt go bang, and a heater that lasts more than five mins too.... Just about the whole thing really....Juwel do state that the tank can bow by up to 15mm before it breaks......and if you have removed the internal filter unit, or modified the hood lighting, they won't change it under warranty...so there.. :p

My local shop is southern aquatics at Poole, Dorset. Yes it was Julie at Juwel that told them this info.

I've had a RIO180 for almost five years now and I've not had a single problem with it! All equipment is original... filter, heater, pump, lights. No bowing or any signs of damage. All I have replaced is the rubber mount on the pump - and that only cost around £2!! My filter is pretty quite too ;)

Yes - Jimbooo had a problem with that when his centre brace cracked. See this thread and his correspondence with Juwel here.
