HI,

I have in my 4ft tank a juwel filter, inside it has 6 pads, 2 blue 2 green 1 black and 1 white.

Does anyone know the order thet meant to go in..

from top to bottom i have...

White
black
green
green
blue
blue

Is this correct?

Thankyou.

no idea sorry but i would do it in order from thick to fine. So any big chucky sponge at the bottom them the smaller/finer bits towards the top until your left with the finest

i've got a similar filter, Just looked at my box for you now! and it says...

white
black
green
blue
blue (fine)

but... that's slightly diff to yours, i'd say the green of yours goes where you said!

as sum1 above said though, it's generally thick to fine

i have a juwel rio 180, 3 blue pads two are fine one is coarse 1 green 1 black 1 white:

white
black
green
blue(coarse)
blue(fine)
blue(fine)

hope that helps

thanks for the quick responces guys, i just lloked at my filter and i have them in the order of thick to fine so i guess its right, the finest ones are at the top and thick at bottom, could anyone explain how they work on the juwel's, does the dirt come in from the top and flitered form the bottom, or is it the other way round.

i was just about to say it depends on which way the water flows!! you want it to go from thick to fine so by the time its coming out it should just be water instead of water and bits.

As far as i know almost all filters go from the bottom up :good:

yer i am still a bit confused as to how my jewel internal works too!

It's got an inlet at the top, and also an inlet half way down at the back?

But... gives out at the top lol

confused!

This is the filter i have, so i guess this is how it works, it seems like the water is all drawn up to the top, then flitered back downwards through the pads, then back up through the upliftube to outlet at top.

The ting is on mine, the inlet grills at the top i have netted over them to stop fry getting in that way and since i done this none has got in, but as long has its been filtered via the other (side and bottom) grills, then thats ok.

JUst found this pic.

from top to bottom i have...

White - polyester
black - carbon
green - nitrate removal pad
green - nitrate removal pad
blue - coarse or fine
blue - coarse or fine

Is this correct?

Blue ones are not fine, there like a big sponge with wide holes in it.

Green is similar but holes smaller.

Black is more finer.

White is very fine, i change these weekly.

the water flows from the top throught the floss first , silly juwel filter!! thats why the white pads always get filthy and the flow of the filter drops easily , they need changing weekly which is quite silly imo.

My pads dont get filthy to be honest m8. And the flow is still as good as when i first set the tank up.

Juwel sponges are expensive.
I only use the black carbon sponges to remove meds,
Also the green nitrate sponge not proven if it work, have to change them every 4 to 6 weeks.
I don't use the juwel white filter pads either, I just buy a big bag of filter matting alot cheaper.

White pads are only £1.85 for 5 :good: but i get mine free for doing odd jobs for my loacl fish store, and get fish, plants, anthing i like for doing jobs.
