Juwel Filter Question

I know they're not the best filter, however, i will be using mine for a while. My question is...where to fill my water level to, as most of you know Juwel instructions must be the worst in the world. You do get a cd rom with it, buy hey my drive goes and breaks on me! Anyways do you fill to the top of the filter or mid way through the top grill bit?

another quickly, do all the powerheads fit the filter? I got the 600 with mine and can get hold of a 1000 for £15.

The one I use I fill so about halfway to the grill at the top. I think the powerheads do fit I have used different ones on mine. The only thing to watch is the rubber bung bit at the bottom of the powerhead, if its very hard it doesnt fit very well and can move.

When I had a juwel set up I had a large piece of floss on the top of the filter media holder so I had the water level almost to the top of the grill.

As far as the power head is concerned I think you will find that it is important to have the correct one for the size of filter. This is because increasing the speed of the flow is counter productive as, according to the instructions, the filter works better once it starts to become slightly clogged and the flow reduced.......wierd I know but it is a juwel

do you mean the internal one?

if so, you can fill UP to the max fill line thats in the tank

My Juwel tank has a max fill line which is at, or just above halfway up the grill. where can you get 1000 for 15 quid?

thanks for the replies peeps, i shall start to fill tomorrow. Theres a sunday market near me and the man deals in outdoor aquatic stuff, he does have some cheap Juwel stuff though. I thought the stronger the powerhead the better the flow. I did mention in another thread about the Juwel filter and Juwel claiming that 'when the water flows through the filter more slowly, then the more ammonia get naturalised as a better rate''.
