Juwel 600 Or Elite Style 60 - Updated Bought One!

It will leech a little over time in the tank, but its nothing to worry about, it usually clears up with water changes. Doesnt effect the fish in anyway, with lots of pieces in the tank it can lower the ph slightly but again nothing to worry about. When your ready to set up the tank, just pop it in.

If you already have tanks cycled, you can always use some filter media (sponge or bio balls) to help seed the new tank, will take much less time with mature media. You can safely remove 1/3 mature media (obviously replace it in the tank already running) to get the cycle going.

Will set it up and try it then, don't want brown water though, but there is plenty of time while cycling to get the water clear, I also want to try and get some java moss to root to the wood while it cycles, tie on with some thread and hope it roots by the end.

I don't think I can really take any media from my other two tanks as they are only just cycled, I mean one by a week and the other by days, so they are not yet stable enough to use their sponge ..... unless Im mistaken (after all, Im very new to this), but would hate to disrupt their cycle as its been very hard work, so pleased they are finally done. I did think about adding the minnows and their filter and running it alongside the new one for a month, that way I could put them in straight away as I am not increasing the bio-load for a while yet. Or, even better just use their sponge in the new filter, it would fit the space if I cut it in two pieces next to each other.....would that work or would it mini-cycle?

I kinda want to try fishless cycling too, though I do have the 35 litre one to experiment on, there is no rush as I have no fish for that yet and it could fishless cycle......not sure which way to go for the best really.

If its that newly cycled, then no, probably best not to move it. However, if you wanted, you could move the fish and the existing filter directly to the new tank and run that filter and the internal juwel filter together, after about 4-6 weeks, you could remove the 'old' filter and just keep the juwel running as it would have grown enough bacteria by then to cope, then obviously slowly stock with more fish as you would normally, leaving it a week or so between adding more to allow the bacteria to multiply enough to cope with the bio load.

Or you could just do the fishless cycle, can sometimes be helpful at the start of the hobby to learn how the bacteria multiply.

I agree, I think fishless cycle will be a better more stable move. That way I can take time over how the tank looks and add a few peppered cories along with the minnows at the end.

It is a great learning process too, you are right. I have learnt a lot during my fish in cycles and am ready to do it right now lol
I enjoy testing the water each day and logging the progress in my folder, love organising it all lol
