Just Starting Out

Hi all,
 
New to this hobby after inheriting a tank from a friend.  The plan is to set it up as a planted community tank in the living room.  The pinned topic about bacteria bloom has been most enlightening & explains a lot.  I have no fish at the moment as I am hoping to use the fishless start up method to get the right bacteria started off. 
 
Anyway, I will be reading up a lot of the FAQs and probably asking a fair few 'N00B' questions so please bear with me.
