Hey there

I just ordered my new tank 60l or 16 gallons, got the heater and the filters all sorted.

Im going for a nice tropical tank and with some real plants.
Could anyone suggest some small colourful fish that wont grow too big, maybe like neon tetras or something a little bigger? I also want fish that will get on in a community not too many maybe like a shoal and 2 or 3 small to medium fish.

And what plants could I get that wouldnt create huge amount of algae or cause problems for a new fish owner?

Thanks in advance

Some nice small fish are neon tetras, as you know, cardinal tetras, black neons, Heterandria formosa, rasbora hets, endlers or guppies, zebra danios or glowlight tetras. There are lots more but that is a few off the top of my head.

Dwarf guramis look pretty colourful.
Guppies.

Definately NOT Dwarf Gouramis......tank must be well matured (at least 6 months after cycle completes) for these fussy b*****s!

BTW, plants don't cause algae in fact they help to combat it by compeating for nutriants. Major source of algae is direct sunlight or by having the tank lights on too long. Over feeding the fish will also cause problems, one of which is algae

3-4 of the smaller Corys (bottom feeders) will help with uneaten food and are loved by most community fishkeepers
