Just need a tad of a rant here.....

Last night I set about to do a water change (ala bucket style) on my Juwel Vision 180. It has to be said I wasn't feeling my best, but nonetheless.....

So I start to siphon water from the tank into the 7 gallon plastic bucket. Only to realise after a while that something was wrong, and I was standing in a puddle of water. The bucket had cracked at the bottom  - at that point "charming" but not the end of the world, and I start mopping up the carpet.

So switched to another bucket (slightly annoyed), siphoned and then hoisted the bucket and started walking to the bathroom. Only to be left with the handle in my hand and the bucket (of 7 gallons of water) on the entire living room floor ! :grr: :sly:  major panic and (I just about broke the world record sprinting record) all the towels in the house on the floor (1st floor no less).

Ditch the handle and do all the trips back and forth (between tank and bathroom) handle-less. Major pain in the back (literally).

So after slopping water all over the bathroom floor (a bit difficult to co-ordinate a bucket without a handle), I proceed to clean the floor - only to spill half the bottle of floor cleaner over myself AND floor.
At this point I'm almost about to cry, but mop up and finish the job.

At last I can sit down and relax with a cup of tea (admiring the clean tank and floor with the small of wet carpet and listening to the washing machine, cleaning the fish water towels).

Only to knock the cup of tea onto my desk.......

What more can I say ? At that point I just laughed !

Moral of the story: get a Python !

Well, at least your fish got a laugh out of it. I bet if you put your ear up to to the tank you would have heard them.

Fish 1: "Dude, watch.....this is gonna be hilarious."

(Bucket handle breaks)

Fish 2: "Doh......ah hahahahah"

Fish 1: "Oh My God....what a tard."

jk

Hi. It sounds like a really cheesy movie where the series of events would normally seem impossible in real life, however it sounds like you did a really good job! I've managed to create mini floods here as well so you're not alone. At least you got the tank clean... better luck next time!

I guess last night was just a bad night for water changes all around. at 10:30, even though I am totally exhausted, i decided to begin water changes. I did it with minimal problems and went to bed.

Today I got home from work around 5:00, I see my tank is a little cloudy looking. I then wonder why I don't see my lights on, so i go look. Its then I notice I don't hear any filters running  After the water change, i realize I had forgotten to pulg back in the power strips.

By the time I caught it, the temperature in my tank had dropped to 60 degreese. I then checked the water stats, ammonia is thankfully still zero, but nitrites have crept up to .25
