Just Got Some New Blue Rams

The female will have a very prominent pink belly, unless really stressed and all the colour is wishy washy. The first of your new pics looks like it may have a pink belly, but I can't be sure if it's not from the lighting.

I used to have 3 Blue rams, 2 females and a male. I now have 2 golden rams, a male and female.

Two of the blue rams I had before

The female, note how pink the belly is (excuse the poop)

I'll try get a pic up of the golds, not got the camera at the moment.

Hope this helps

Oh yeh, I see what you mean now. One of mine has a very slight pink tinge to it, nowhere near as obvious as the female in your pic.

BTW if I do have 2 males will they fight??

I'm not sure if there will be fighting without females present. I have seen males fighting in aquariums at the LFS. Maybe if your tank is big enough, so they could both have their own territory. I think you may have to wait and see. And if you do have 2 males and they start fighting, would your LFS not take one back and swop for a female?

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the help AlexAndCarmen I only have 2 in a 20 gallon tank, an I'm pretty sure my lfs will take them back if they do start fighting. They have been gettin along fine so far.

Cheers :good:

I'd love to have a pair of Rams, but don't they need more floor space then, height? If so may tank is not suitable, but I could set up my 2ft x 1ft x 1ft and get a pair of golden rams if the tank is right size.

Hi ice(kat)

Yes, they were Blue German Rams. I was lucky enough to find really good specimens. Also depends on how stressed they are, how bright their colours will be. Overly stressed, they tend to have those black and grey bars on their bodies and the colour is very wishy washy.
