Hey just back home from my lfs with 2 new Blue Rams (m&f), Just started acclimatising now, I am doing it with the drip method. I would normally use the floating bag method, but I am getting a Figure 8 Puffer for my 20 gallon tank soon and am going to use the drip method for it so I wanted to practice on something else first. All is going well so far, no floods...yet lol.

Well get some pics posted once they are in the tank...

Here is a pic of me drip acclimatizing them...

Let us know how it goes. Drip is not a method i've ever used.

I put the 2 Blue Rams into the tank about an hour ago now, I've just turned the lights on and they are looking great. The drip method all went to plan and will be hoping to use it for my Figure 8 Puffer.

whats a drip method? this is somethin i have never heard of!
It's a very slow acclimatising method. Basically tank water is slowly dripped into the bucket where you newly bought fish is/are (tubing is clamped or tie a knot to slow the flow to a drip). This way the fish can adapt to your tanks parameters slowly instead of sudden change. People use this method for fish that are more sensitive.

Waiting for the pics :hyper: :hyper:

I've never used the drip method but had a bit of a disaster with some corries after a long journey using the slow acclimitisation method (pouring tank water into the bag). I have also tried one of those fintro (?) things from maidenhead aquatics and the fish just go mad inside it. When I bought some apistos recently via mailorder, which are allegedly quite sensitive, I just poured them in after 20 mins floating in the tank. They're doing fine and I think they should breed. I didn't want a repeat of the corries, however, I think they were very weak anyway and the stress of the journey got them.

Here are some pics, sorry they are a bit blurry...

Better pics to follow :good:

Are those a two pics of both rams? If so, it would seem you have two males. The female rams have a pink belly, while the males don't.

How have the settled in?

:D

They have settled in really well. They are always out right at the front of the glass, and have been eating really well.

I am not sure if the pics of the 2 different rams, I took quite a lot of pics and those were the best two so I put them on. Is the pink belly the only telltale?

Here are a few more pics I took...

The differences I noticed between them was that one of them had darker black markings on its body and also had a pointier tip to the back of its dorsal fin. This one seemed more dominant sometimes chasing the other BR.
