Just got a 40 Gallon

plans for the 55 G fell through, and I decided to get a 40 gallon tall that was being sold here in Buffalo in the classifieds. $120 for 40G tank in pristine condition, metal stand, seperate hood and light strip, UGF, Hang on filter, really good piece of driftwood, 5 good sized plastic plants, and 2 good sized rocks. I think it was a good deal as this would have cost me a good amount new...What do you guys think.

Now I'm not going to use the UGF, as I'm doing a sand substrate. Later today I'm going to get some silica sand, probably from home depot, and then my 2 dojo loaches to start with.

After the cycle is done I'll move my 6 Tiger Barbs, and add a pair of german Blue Rams. That will only leave like 4 inches of space left after that...So I'll be looking for a single fish...preferably a top Dweller. I'm thinking butterly fish...but the long fins may be an invitation for my TB's...any suggestions, as of now I want

40G Tall
1. 2 Dojo Loaches
2. 6 Tiger Barbs
3. 2 German Blue Rams
4. 1 4" or less fish

Though, I might decide to scrap the rams, and put 1 in the soon to be free 10G, with a small shoal of cardinal tetras or something like that.

Any suggestions on what would work in my tank?

I highly suggesting bumping the # of Dojos to 3.

I knoe little about TB, but I hear they can get very aggressive... Should be ok in a 40 g though I'd imagine.

*tries to think of 1 4" or less fish* You could get an Oto or 2. There are about 2" and wonderful for cleaning up algea I figure 2 2" fish is as good as 1 4"!

Maybe one of those really small Pleco's, the ones that don't get more then 4-5 inches... Don't remember what they're called, but they're in the index!

I don't know a lot of fish off the top of my head, that's just what comes to mind

You coudl always leave that spot blank, incase you ever see a fish in a store that you really like and want to get it on a whim Just make sure you urun home and double-check that it is safe!

The problem with 3 dojos, is that with 6tbs and 2 rams...thats totally full. I'd like room for something else too. I'm going to go with 2, and figure I can always add 1 more later on

Ok, I gave in and got 3 dojos, all of them the golden variety. I'll post pics soon.
