I am a student of Biotechnology (Genetic's specialization, but haven't had time to specialize yet.) And I decided it would be an interesting side project to add guppies/endlers to my tank and maybe try a small breeding project.
I plan it to be a pretty natural process - I have other fish in the tank who will eat fry, and I don't plan on keeping preggers females in a breeder trap to give birth. My plan was pretty much to get as pale a female as possible (By pale i mean dull/lacking color) and get a variety of colorful males and allow them to breed. (Some draw backs being that the female is colorless, so the fry will probably only inherit fathers colors meaning it will take at least 2 generations to get any color combination. And not knowing what colors a female may have but not express that could influence the color pattern of the fry ect ect...)

So that should entertain me through the winter anyways :p I'd love to hear any experience people have had with breeding guppies, as I just recently bought about a dozen guppy/endler fry (about 1.5 cm long) at an auction and I'm just watching them grow for now while I learn more about them.

Anyways I moved to a house in the country that has a 250 gal pond (I'm estimating size here, and I'll admit I'm not known for my spacial awareness.) And next year I was hoping to get  a filter for it and put some gold fish in it. If I put in enough plants and such I'm sure I could put some guppies in it (As fish food and a 'semi-natural breeding project.')
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with raising guppies outdoors? (I was just going to take a combination of the color varieties I like and add them to the pond and hope the gold fish didn't eat them all up right at the start and then collect some in the fall before the pond is winterized and see what human-influenced-natural selection comes up with.)

You looking females that genetically lack colour or just have no colour.

You can get see-tru's which genetically carry no colour as the body also completely see through, you can see the heart beating and fry developing in the line of guppy
