Thanks everyone,
I can't believe there are only 28 considering how big she was. Then again, the fry were born like most of my one week old fry.
We will probably find more in a few days when they are swimming more.

congratulations on the babies....when our female swordie had babies my ohter half phoned me & told me shed had about 5...........id just got home from work & was looking in the fry tank where i could see at least 50 little orange blobs with 2 big eyes & a tail..........there was over 50!!!! i did keep telling him he needed glasses
the 50+ blobs are now about 6 weeks old we havent lost any some are over 1cm long & some are still teeny but all look healthy & happy

That's why i didn't go for a big count, as my platy got huge, and she would have some bigger babies, instead of loads of fry.

i guess around 24 babiesm lol nah congrats!!! my swordie had about 30 but i have 3 preggo female platies atm so i should have loads. They have been pregnant for over 3 weeks now!

You will be surprised how long they will hold off for, I put my white molly in abreed net cos she was huge and she got to twice the size of the fish you have in that picture, she had , from what we could count about 160 babies and she has that many every 28 days since. She is due again in 5 days I thought she had a major problem when she never had hers and got so big. I think your fish will have about 100 fry make that 101 just to be safe!

nvm then.

I just might give them away in 6 months or so. Keep an eye out in TFF Livebearers and I'll let everyone know. I don't have the tank space for 35 silver dalmation mollies and 28 creamsicle mollies + all the other fish I have. There is no more room for another tank unless I get rid of a child & that won't happen until college (5 years from now) .

Congrats on the babies, they sure are big for newborns. I hope the mother recovers her balance soon, she will be very stressed after such a pregnancy.

I've done that before. I'll do it again when I need to. I like knowing the fish are going to a good home where they will be cared for and wanted by someone knowledgable. I figure there is a better chance of someone caring for the fish well and being knowledgable through here than someone walking in a LFS. That doesn't say someone just walking in the LFS isn't all the above, I just have more confidence in knowing someone will know what they are getting if they are someone "familiar".

Sorry, I never looked at the date. anyway congrats!!!!! on the little ones, by the way the white molly I mentioned in the same reply had babies (about 140) and then died. But she was a pretty old molly. And only 5 of the babies were alive all the others were tiny and dead and then there were alot of eggs I tried to get a photo to post but my camera is playing up I will try to get a picture of my orange and black molly, she's not that big but I will take a pic anyway.
