Last weekend, a series of events occurred in my tanks that had my ripping hair out of my scalp. Here's a timeline of what happened.
Thursday 4/25/13
New additions to a shoal of rummy noses in QT. Had Ich from LFS, dosed with CopperSafe.
Thoughts: "Crappy LFS. I'll take care of the Ich myself."
Friday 4/26/13
Two neons in my 20 gallon showed fading colors in tail. Did research on NTD/columnaris.
"Ugh my QT is occupied. I'll deal with it tomorrow morning."
Saturday Morning 4/27/13
A third neon showed color fading in blue stripe. Removed all neons and put them into my water change bucket.
"I've always wanted neons, but wow, they are annoying."
Saturday Afternoon 4/27/13
Ich multiplied in QT. Rummy noses looked horrible. Did 95% water change, began salt treatment.
"FREAKIN Coppersafe! What the heck?! Useless meds!!!"
Sunday Afternoon 4/28/13
Witnessed swordtail attack on rummy noses in 20 gallon tank (not the ones in QT obviously). Ripped a fin in two. Removed swordtail immediately. Put him into a measuring cup (for cooking). LFS closed. Also lost one rummy nose in QT.
"Darn it. I really liked this swordtail but he's got to go. How humiliating for him to be in my measuring cup."
Sunday Night 4/28/13
Found a male guppy in 5.5 gallon tank with a thin white layer of white on lips. Swimming appeared slightly different, somewhat labored. Perhaps fungus? Moved tank makes into the 20 gallon tank. Did 80% water change in 5.5 gallon and added salt for good measure.
*Commence hair pulling*
Monday 4/29/13
Returned swordtail to LFS. Mentioned sick neons and Iched rummy noses.
*evil eye to LFS*
Tuesday 4/30/13
Things began to look up. Remaining rummy noses have zero spots. Triple checked for any spots, confirmed with girlfriend no spots. PHEW. Male guppy looking 100% healthy again.
"What exactly did my guppy have...?"
Today 5/3/13
Deemed QT rummy noses clean and healthy. Moved them to 20 gallon. They happily began shoaling with existing rummy noses.
Returned to LFS. They told me I have store credit. Bought a beautiful black guppy (named him Tchaikovsky). They also finally had some live snails. Five snails, and a beautiful guppy for under a dollar.
Deemed male guppy in 5.5 gallon healthy, and moved him into 20 gallon. He was glad to see his old tank mates again! Placed Tchaikovsky in 5.5 gallon with snails. Placed neons into QT. Dosing with salt.
Meet Tchaikovsky!

He looks like his spine is curved up in this picture, but I think he was just stretching
