Ughhh, today I really feel like jacking it alllll in!!
Since upgrading my tank to a 125 litre I seem to be experiencing death after death! A couple of days ago, one of my two German Blue Rams died, I thought it was because the other one had become dominant and had bullied it to death, however today my other ram has died!
I have not changed anything, still doing my weekly water changes and my levels are perfect.
The majority of my 'Original' fish (as in the ones I moved from my 70 litre when upgrading) are fine! They include my 6 cherry barbs, my platinum tetras, neon tetras my female guppy and all of my cory's.
All in all I have lost:
3 Harlequin Rasboras
3 Dwarf Gouramis (though I expect they were a bad batch as didn't even last a week)
1 Male Betta (though he did have something wrong with his mouth)
2 German Blue rams

I just feel like I can't sort anything as I can't get my head around why it is happening?
Does anyone have any clue? I'm at my wits end and its getting tiring fishing out dead fish all the time =[

GBRs are very sensitive. There are a bunch of causes for them to die. They prefer higher temps than you might have had. Dwarf Gouramis are also sensitive and have a specific disease that kills them. The rasboras are generally hardy, but are susceptible to prolonged exposure to ammonia/nitrite, as well as some other things.


Tell me about your feeding regime. How often, what type and how much do you feed?



What information beyond this can you share? Water temp, maintenance water change frequency & volume, water hardness, all tank inhabitants, etc. How long has this tank been set-up and when did you put the rams in? New set-ups can be hazardous to some fish, even when cycled. A cycled tank doesn't always mean a MATURE tank. Some fish, and I believe both dwarf gouramis and GBRs fall into that range, don't do well in immature tanks.

To be fair, both of the rasboras that died were about 4 years old, so at the time I put it down to old age, but then when all these other started dropping like flies I began to wonder.

Feeding regime is every other day, some days it will be flake and algae wafers or catfish pellets for the cory's then the next feed will perhaps be frozen bloodworm, then next brine shrimp, then daphnia, then back round again!

The water temp is around 26-27, lately I've had to keep my eye on it as with the colder weather the heating in the house is on, and I've been conscious that it doesn't affect the tank's temperature too much.
I change the water every wednesday, roughly 30% (about 2 big buckets worth) conditioning with API Stress Coat and also adding liquid plant fertiliser that I can't remember the name of.

All of my inhabitants:

2 baby Angels (currently seeking a new home for them after being dumped with them by a friend and since being told I cannot keep them in my tank)
6 Cherry barbs
4 Platinum tetras
6 Neon Tetras
3 Panda Corys
3 Trilli Corys
1 Female guppy

I've personally had this tank running since August time, however I had it given to me by my brother (along with his filter and all his mature filter media) and he had it running for 4 years previous to me obtaining it.

Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: 5
Nitrite: 0
PH: 6.8/7.0
