Just Bought Some One Eyed Fish!

I was just in Maidenhead Aquatics and they had some Diamond Tetra in but they all had an eye missing on the same side. They said they came in like that but would still live fine. They called them Pirate Diamond Tetras lol. They were reduuced to £1 because of this so I got 3.

Do you think they'll be ok with one eye?

They should be fine, I've had fish (and known of fish) to live just fine with one eye.

However, this is quite bizzare, i've never known a batch of fish to all be missing one eye. Maybe it's a disease of some sort? But the fact they are all effected on the same side is even more strange

Has anyone else known of this in a group of fish?

Yes, I agree they'll be fine, but it is rather odd. Some kind of genetic abberation perhaps? It would be very odd for a disease or predator to get the same-side eye in every case, wouldn't it? You'd expect at least some to have the eye on the other side affected.

There was one there with 2 eyes which I got but the rest had only one eye. All the same side. I got two with the one eye. They just said they came in like that. They still look beautiful. I love the way they shimmer. They are a touch fin nipped and I read they can be nippy towards eachother. I deo have one male and one female the other I'm not too sure on as he's nipped.

They had some stunning Jumbo cardinal Tetras in there. The colours were fantastic. But I was told no more I have no room anyway but I soooo wanted some to add to the ones I have.
