At the mo the ones I know for sure are...

6 x Apisto macmasteri (all juveniles at the 2cm mark)
2 x Anomalochromis thomasi (1 male and 1 female)
1 x Nanochromis transvestitus male
1 x Dwarf flag cichlid, I think a male
3 x Various apisto, possibly all female but I'm unsure about species and the such right now. These are the ones I'll need id's for once I post up pics.

Very happy with my hoard :) and I go to pick up the 150l on Tuesday so they wont be sharing such cramped quarters for long.

Atm my tanks are...
35l - 6 Harlequin rasbora + 6 Macmasteri
60l - 7 Corys, 1 Hongsloi and then the rest of the new fish (exc the macasteri of course).

Not all the inhabitants are fully grown and I have a good filter so I'm hoping everyone is happy and behaves for the next few days.

Also picked up a tank stand that I won on ebay... £1.70! lol.

It's been a good day.

Good to see you getting a nice sized tank again, is this one being based at home or uni? [font="arial]

Based at uni, I wont be keeping the entire stocklist as it stands at the mo. I'm going to jiggle stuff around and prob sell of all but 3 breeding pairs/harems at the end of the year. Then over summer with have 2 breeding pairs/harems in the 60l and 1 breeding pair/harem in the 35l

So I imagine unless I find a female transvestitus nearby then he will be being re-homed later in the year.
As will the dwarf flag and possibly any 'spare' apistos, ie mateless.

Annoyingly one of the females was a hongsloi and so would've gone perfectly with my male, but when I got her home she was gasping quite alot and so is now sat in a breeder box gasping even more and laying on her side.

Nevermind though, not much more I can do. And they were a bargain so I'm not too bothered about the money, just don't like watching them suffer.

The transvestitus is alot like the krib to be honest... just smaller and slightly more peaceful (till breeding). So yeah it mixes quite well :)

And the offer was 'buy them all together for x' or not at all. And it was a pretty good deal so I was happy to sell any 'spares' or 'trouble makers' seperately. :)

Hmm, female apisto passed away 20mins ago. I am having doubts as to it being a hongsloi though. I reckon it was a rotpunkt... but only time will tell.

I'll be watching out for your progress, I assume the shrimp breeding didn't take off?
I'm still planning on going with some dwarfs in my 125L, I need to get rid of my Honduran Red Points first but can't seem to do it, they're always in breeding mode and before long I'll have to take out all the substrate, it's getting manky with all the feeding and wastage

The guy who I was buying the shrimp from imports them. And his guy in Germany ran off with all his money! Thankfully I've been given a full refund, but obviously that means no shrimp.

That's why I'm treating myself to the 150l and some new cichlids. By the way, pictures of thomasi cichlids really don't do them justice. They're so pretty in real life.

I have pics btw, just need to get them off of the camera and upload... however they were the stressed 'just arrived' pics. I will be taking more in a couple of days once they're properly settled.

They look even better than that! Trust me. :)

The females goes greeny yellow and stripey when settled. Mines a really lovely colour at the mo (just been fed :))

Unknown female 2 - Doesn't look female here but once relaxed has been showing ALOT of black on the dorsal and pectorals making me think a female.

Sorry for rubbish pics, and obviously they are showing much more colour and less stressed patterns so more pics will be coming. But enjoy for now. And if anyone wants to id the 3 apistos at the end I'd be grateful. I know they're not perfect pics but guesses are fine, then I'll try to cross reference.

Update, lots more flirting between my hongsloi and the female.

And alot of shimmying going on in the back corner above a piece of plant pot by the thomasi. I imagine it wont be long after I shift everyone into the 150l before I start seeing eggs being laid.
And at the speed the thomasi are going at I wouldn't be surprised if they spawn in the next couple of days.#

However the hongsloi pair (if she is a hongsloi) are still getting to know eachother. Plenty of shimmying and following, but he's still relatively small in comparison to her so although she seems keen... I think she just isn't that impressed with him at the mo.

Very nice. I had a male thomasi he was a mean little guy just a warning. They are also African not south American if that matters to you.

They are really pretty here is mine. I gave him away he was too fresh. They are pretty.

I know they're african but that doesn't bother me.

And so far they've both been perfectly well behaved. There is the normal expected cichlid to cichlid bickering... but at the end of the day at the mo there are ALOT of cichlids in the 60l tank , and he's not persuing any of them, just a short burst then going back to the female. He's also completely ignoring the snails and corys.

I'll take a picture of the tank to show you just how much cover there is, I imagine that's probably having the biggest effect on behaviour. And I only need him to be this well behaved until Monday/Tuesday when I get the big tank.

Edit: make that I'll take a picture later, seems the camera battery is flat. :(

Maybe since you have a lot they will work out a pecking order I had mine with a male ram and they went at it full on all the time. Your set up sounds better for them then mine was.

Can't wait for pics.
