Just had to give an update on my spotted rainbows. I had pretty much left them to their own devices, doing water changes and feeding them and letting the tank get rather over grown. So today I decided I needed to do some drastic pruning in the tank, as well as remove some cherry shrimp since the Blackmore Shrimp are breeding well in the tank, as well as remove the cursed duckweed in the tank. Thankfully I was worried about shrimplets being caught as I collected the duckweed in a small container on the surface and was dumping the water and weed into a bucket. I happened to look in the bucket holding the collected duckweed and spied a miniscule fish fry
, the only fish it could possibly be is the spotted blue eyes and after kicking myself (I had been less careful the last time I removed duckweed from the tank), and continplating how I was going to separate the fry from the duckweed I saw more fry in the bucket. Then I looked more closely in the very parents tank and saw yet more fry swimming about in there.
So then my next dilemma was what to do with all the extra plant life that has over grown the parents tank and what about more eggs hidden in the jungle
. That's where my husbands guppy tank has just come into its own. I dumped the extra weed in the guppy tank, I figure if there are any more eggs I will be able to find the fry later as they grow up in with the guppies. I know the guppies might eat the fry but they have more then enough of their own fry to eat as well as cherry shrimp shrimplets. Plus the plants are rather thick in that tank as well.
So I hear you ask just how small is miniscule?
.
Heres some pics I took of them with my phone
