Ok, so i have had lil' "Apollon" for about 3 months now, and he's as happy as ever, swimming in his 55L (11Gal) tank all on his own, bar the tiny bristlenose i have in there who never disturbs him. But i have been wanting to add to his tank, and have had many great suggestions from people, and i think i am going to settle on platies...but i will be ready for any emergencies don't worry x

However, i work in pets at home (please don't kill me, it's a good one) and recently we have been selling Khuli (Coolie) loaches. I think i have fallen in love. They are sooooo cool and i would love to have a small group. As they dwell on the botton of the tank (in the substrate) are there any problems with keeping them with my lil' guy...and moreover with the platies?

Thanks for the imput guys x

(Btw i know the platy babies will be in danger from the fighter, but i have made preparations for them :good: )

don't wanna burst any bubbles but you do know bristlenoses will get too big for your 55litre?

yeah course i do...but seriously he is so tiny right now...like no bigger than half my little finger...i've got a while before i worry about that

ok just checking, they are adorable when they're small! I have a pitbull pleco in my 55litre with my betta :)

they are so cute, and really good 'cos they don't bother the fighters in the slightest...

Loaches and Plecos need plenty of oxygen and a good water flow which your Betta might not be too keen on.
If your Betta is happy with a good flow rate then the BN's will be fine for a while but as Hollypop pointed out, they will eventually need a bigger tank.
A group of 5+ Ottocinclus would be ok in that size tank as long as it is mature enough.
Pitbull Plecos reach 6-8cm and should be kept in a group rather than on their own. You may get away with 3-5 in that size tank but it will need good filtration and regular maintenance. ;)

what about the loaches? noone seems to be answering me on them?

Loaches also like plenty of oxygen and a good water flow, so should be ok if your Betta doesn't mind the current.

oh okie, thanks...well my tank is heavily planted...i dont think there will be an issue with O2 levels, and where flow is concerned i have a slight flow in my tank anyway, increasing it shouldn't be an issue....

thanks for the advice x

The loaches should be fine as long as they aren't black khuli loaches since they're so active and might annoy the betta. Also they need to be in groups and need sand as they burrow and sift through it.
