I am going to purchase some moneywort for my 10 gallon fish tank in my sig. The problem is my tank has just recently expianced an ammonia spike. Right now the levels are around 0-.25. Should I add this plant now or should I wait for everything to settle down first? I will also be adding dwarf hairgrass. I think I should add that after the moneywort because it might invade the space where I plan on planting it. Finally, how many plants should I add at a time?

One more thing, would you recommend API® CO2 Plant Booster  as a CO2 booster?
Thank you for your help!

I would be doing water changes mate with readings like that. 50% daily until the readings were under control. :)

Plants often help with controlling nitrates, nitrites and ammonia so it would be benficial to you and your fish to add plants. Fast growing stem plants like Elodea and Cabomba eat nutrients very quickly indeed as they are fast growing.

Okay thanks for your help minnnt! I'll be adding plants tomorrow or Tuesday! :D

With regards to your Co2 question, i would invest in a decent fertiliser. Maybe a complete one with N&P if you're under stocked. If you have decent light and still feel you need the boost then try adding carbon.

Limnophila will also devour any left over nutrients in your tank and will out compete algae for them due to it's speedy growth.

Thanks! I just added a Java Fern in my tank today. It looks great! I was also going to purchase moneywort but my LFS was out of stock.

I also got a background. :D
