Jus Starting A Mbuna Cichlid Tank? Some Advice Please

it is mamma fish, its to replace bl**dy, but I do my best to keep my posts clean for the sake of any possible kids that may read them. swear like a truper at home! got to try put together a 101 uk tank this weekend just so I can make a start on the sump for the marine. not lol this morning.

Hey crouchy,

The price all depends on what type of fish it is and supply in your area. For instance the bottom of the cost ladder would be mixed africans (mbuna), these are cheap because normally they are hybrids. My advice to you would be to stay away from these guys as you dont know what you are getting.

Next in line would be species like labs, these fish are easy to breed and plentyful in supply, hence they are not that expensieve. Therefore species become more expensieve as they become more difficult to breed and source.

The most money you will pay is for wild caught fish or adult fish.

my wish for you crouchy is to get some of the more rare afras in your area, breed them succesfully and flood the market with them so there are no more nasty cheap zebras and the like!!!!



there are other fish then the boring/mean zebras etc. (ooo gopnna piss off some folks now! ) dont hurt me!!!! I just wish everyone over there had the benefit of more diverse supply like we have over here.

ok that sounds great. what sort of fish will be ok then to have with afras. If you can advise any particulare fish names with colour and size they grow to i can get them ordered from my lfs as i do really want some more rarer fish. i have jus bought 2 yellow labs and they are wonderful. not in the tank yet tho in my mates waitin for mine to be setup
