You may of seen the my other topic here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=171699 basically I have 2 Julidochromis Regani who have bred and are now protecting the fry also in the tank are a pair of Petricola and some Cyprichromis Leptosoma the idea was to add a small colony of Multis (currently housed in a different tank).

My enthusiasm of the Julies breeding has diminished since the Julies have started behaving like nutters they are making my Mbuna look like Mary Poppins and have taken the whole tank as their territory the poor Petricola are having to do an impression of an open water fish to get away it`s that bad. (They don`t seem hurt BTW)

I`m considering returning them unless I can come up with a solution.

I`ve moved the rocks closer to the corner and put a "wall" of vallis up between them and the rest of the tank but I`m not confident it will help.

Any suggestions welcomed ?

May look stupid but a 'wall' of rocks in the middle? Just to try break up line of sight more. Or maybe thicker Vallis?

They are beautiful fish, would be a shame to return them. How about a fry predator?

If none of that works, take the fry and eggs away? This is what I have to do, every water change my NW rainbow cichlid pairs breed, I take the eggs and just feed them to the rest of the fish I have.

I don`t think I fry predator would last.
They seem to have started ignoring the Petricola maybe it`s because they have realised they can`t actually hurt them, they are really tough fish.
I introduced a couple of Multis yesterday but ended up pulling them out again after 10 mins the large Julie tried eating one whole at one point and they ended up in the top corner of the tank.
I`m hoping they will calm down when the fry grow a bit ?
Maybe a tank divider would work until the fry grow large enough.

Usually moving the rocks will put the Julies off breeding for a while, if not forever.
