Jewel Nitrite Sponge Causing Nitrite?

i replaced the nitrate sponge with noodles - as i dont like using any removes , nitrate sponges or carbon
the little bag of noodles sits nicely at the top with some filter floss to top it off

worked perfectly for me

i didnt buy the nitrate sponge- it came with the tank!!! i wont buy another

i will change whats left of the nitrate sponge then.

ok. i have removed all of the green sponge, and i have also put a bit of cirax in a jug with some water to test 2moz to see if it causes nitrite, i know its a biological media but i swear somewhere i read some account of it actually causing more bad than good
