hi ive just had my jewels lay and fertilise bout 2 to 3 hundred eggs yesterday. unfortunately apart from the odd 1 or 2 eggs left it seems theyve all been eaten. from memory jewels are chronic first batch eaters yeah? probably made more so because mine are only young at around a year old or so.

just wondering also what is the time between spawns? i would like to get them out befor the next time and put them in my hatchery which is semi empty atm to get the most without the agression.

so yeah. is it usual for them to protect the eggs for a day then eat them? and what is the time between spawns.

also has anyone had any success with tumblers? thinking it might be a better way untill they stop eating their eggs! if anyone has any websites with diagrams or info on how to make one id love to see!

No , it isnt usual. They should get it right next time. They need to learn how to take care of them. Tumblers work well, but there is no substitue for the real thing. They should lay next week( my pair layed once a week, sometimes every 6 days ).

hmm. well that makes me feel bad now :( i thought the first few batches usually failed. wonder what im thinking off? ehh anyway thnx
