Anyone have experience of the Juwel Automatic Feeder?

Im looking at purchasing one as I go away to Cape Coral in Florida at the end of this month and need an auto feeder for the chaps.

Does anyone know if these are any good? are there cheaper alternatives that do a better job?

Can you program them to feed every 3 days rather than small amounts every day?

I bought an auto feeder for a holiday last year and now I use it all the time.

As I generally feed granuals then Algea wafers late with lights out I went for the Eheim Twin Automatic feeder which has two food hoppers. You can program upto 3 different feed cycles per hopper per day. You can adjust the amount of food given at any time programmed. You can have days when no food is given if you wish.

It's been that good two family members also use the Ehiem Twin Feeder on their tanks.

Suprising how the fish adapt as well, as feedeing is performed at the exact same time everyday the tank gets very active 10 minutes before feed time and my clown loaches go wild as soon as they hear the machine start to turn.

I bought one a few months ago when I went away for 3 weeks. It can feed once or twice a day only, there are no other settings. I had a mixture of flakes and wafers in there and it was inconsistent with the feed quantities as you had to have a wider aperture to allow the wafers to fall out. My brother came in every few days to check on things and it did need refilling after 2 weeks. Another good point is that you can fit an air line to it to keep the food aerated and therefore dry.

Overall it did a reasonable job but maybe a dual compartment would have suited me better.
