Well I live in the U.S. and I don't think I've ever seen a Jewel Aquarium. Are these aquariums made and distributed in the U.K. cause it seems to be a very popular aquarium?

I don't know if its just for the UK but they are not that popular because they have had almost hundreds of problems and faults with it like it was made so fish can easily jump out, the filter that comes with it isn't powerful enough to handle the waste load in the tank, and fish being able to jump into the filter and die. So its not really popular but I believe that the people in the UK don't have many companys to choose from when it comes to tanks.

they are a German company only distribute to europe as far as i know.

the tanks are designed for mainly planted tanks with litle fish which is what the filtration is designed aorund, so whenever considering keeping large fish in these tanks you will most liekly need to upgrade in the future.

the fish only have 2 gaps 1"x2" on either side to jump out so i'm not sure where you got that from.

smaller fish do sometimes get into the filter box but once again they don't usually die in there.

if your after a well priced good looking tank then Juwel would be your answer in the UK.

Okay, thanks for clearing it up for me. I thought I lived in the middle of nowhere

What?! Juwel tanks are probably the most popular tanks on the market (though personally i dont like them) and we probably have more choice of aquariums than any other country in the world. As well as the Juwels we have complete tank set ups from Eheim, Fluval, Rena, Aqua one and a few others as well as no end of companies that produce all glass tanks of any size and shape.

I agree with CFC - they are hugely popular in the UK and are in a competitive market - there is lots of choice in the UK when it comes to aquariums - list is nearly endless!
I actually like them - they're designed to be a good basic tank at a good basic price, to which you can add things if you need/want to.

As far as I'm concerned, I don't give a monkeys who makes my tank, so long as it doesn't have an inbuild filter or lights system.

Second hand all the way. Why people pay so much for new tanks is totally beyond me.
