Hi im just starting out,

Ive seen this product and was thinking of using it JBL aqua basis plus and then using a topping of JBL Mango?
would this be good start for a planted tank?
Then I was thinking is it best to stick with the JBL fertilizer?

any help be greatly appriecated

regards
Chris

Top the aqua basis with JBL manado and you will be on to a winner.

thanks will i need to add fertilizer once i get the plants in there?

Depends on what plants you choose. You may also need co2 depending on the lighting and once again the plants.

at the mo got a 150watt 10k halide from my marine tank, or i can get 3x 24w t5s going its over a trigon 190ltr tank,
thanks for the reply

You could grow a large range of plants in that tank. For best results, I would say yes to both co2 and ferts which ever lighting you use.

stay away from the Halide to begin with...use these with caution if you're a newb to plants. Even hardened plant growers are very careful with Halides. I had 2 x 26w T5 in my old Trigon and that grew anything for me. If you're using 3 then you will need some C02 of sorts, whether that be liquid C02 or pressurised C02.

right, ill leave the halide then!

what bulbs would reccomend or is it a minefield like the marine side?

regards

chris

It's a bit easier for plants, as they will adapt to any light available. So it's up to you really...i personally like the look of a white crisp tank. JBL do some nice 9000k white bulbs which fit the trigon.

obviously find the right wattage! lol.

thanks, total different game to marine!

sorry for all the questions just sometimes u get replies to posts and others u dont!

do i need a air pump?

plus which is a good co2 kit to buy which i can refill?

sorry again

regards

chris

no, an airpump isn't needed, and the best value for money pressurised C02 set up is a fire exstingusher. Don't worry about the question, thats what we're here for.

read those articles and put me off! dont think the mrs would let me mess with that with the 2 young ones in the house!
looks like saving for a JBL kit.

what advantage does adding a air pump give apart from increasing the water surface breaking up?

as i will be running a tunze 6025 for circulation.

Some people like an air pump for that bubble effect. Just for appearance.

Personal choice.
