Is this handful of Java Moss I got going to become a weed? It doesn't seem to have grown much or anchored to anything in the two weeks I've had it but I still am concerned about it taking over.

When plants are introduced to a new tank from a store they typically take a bit of an adjustment period. Moss generally speaking is a slow grower. I would say that in a two month period it may triple in size. I don't have personal experience with it myself yet though as it's not something I have in my tank.

Java moss is very slow growing, I have a big lump in my 32litre and I just tucked the edge of it under a large piece of slate and no its slowly growing up the side of it and its anchored to it now too, is yours tied to anything or pinned down?

Well at first I just sprinkled some substrate on it to hold it down because I was waiting on a peice of wood I got on ebay. I plan on tucking bits of it here and there around the tank. Anything I should know to help anchor it until it roots?

It doesn't root, normally you wrap it around rocks or bogwood :) or if you're doing a carpet of java moss you use a plastic mesh to tie it onto

it will 'root' in effect, it produces rhiziods which act as organs of attachment, and stick to things.

Oh I wouldn't sprinkle substrate over it either as those parts will get no light at all.
