Wow..java moss looks better "reaching" for the light than it does compact. That's just my opinion though.

Thanks for all your nice comments folks

wow ! a java moss fro !!!
Errrumm, what's a fro ?! is that good or bad ?? -_-

By the way, it seems that java moss is doing better under low light/low nutrient than java fern.
In the background you might just be able to see a larger leaf of j.fern that came from another tank and in the forground is a small offshoot of that fern.
Neither have grown much since they were added to the tank, cf the moss which will (soon ?!relativly) take over the whole plot :) !

 i think he means "fro" as in AFRO (african hair). - look at the pic again, i see what he means, ha ha

Thanks for the pics and help, PtarmiganUK

I got my moss in the post today.... its a lot different to any I've seen so far (will get pics soon). If i can describe it for now.....

Each piece is about 5mm wide and range between 1.5cm to 3.5cm in length. Its quite brown in places and looks more like a "garden fern" than the nice green stuff like yours.

Any ideas? Does all Java Moss look like that to begin with? It looks quite dull on the slate and the bits of brown don't look too attractive... but I'll bare with it and see.

Thanks a lot,
Simon.
