Japanese Moss Ball And Green Water

To those that have these moss balls, is anyone else experiencing a general "greening" of the water. Not extreme, just tinged greenish. My tank used to be crystal clear. Water stats are fine. Any thoughts? I'm thinking that I don't like it... while I love the ball... I prefer the crystal clear water.

i don't think that the green water is because of the moss ball. maybe you are just having an outbreak of algae.

I have mossballs and I have never experienced green water at all.

Green water is caused by the presence of ammonia and too much light. Even a spike undetectable by our test kits can trigger an outbreak. The usual course of treatment is a black out for a few days and a large 80% waterchange at the end. When you blackout the tank, you must wrap the tank in something that light doesn't penetrate well, and leave the light off for at least 3 days. Don't feed during the blackout either. Don't worry about your live plants as they will be fine.
