Japanese Fighter Fish With Grey Gills

For a few weeks now my japanese fighter fish has had grey patches on it's gills. My fish seems fine and isn't displaying any odd symptoms but I'm wondering what this is and if it can be harmful? Or is it normal for red fighter fish to develop grey patches on their gills?

Hello, would really need to see a pic to be sure but I did have a red fighter once that also had silvery patches to it's gill covers so it sounds like it may just be pigment and nothing to worry about especially if the fish is acting well in general :good:
