Expensive yes, but i want them

ive got some of those gill, got them last week, long finned guppies, you can only breed from short finned males though, di

They are cool though, I want them to see what will happen if tiger is introduced to them.
I can get some Jap blue Short fin to breed with them aswell.

you could get some long finney tigers gill, sounds like you enjoy experimenting be interesting to see how they turn out, they were tiny fry when i got them which was tuesday, my how theyve grown in a few days, cant really see any colours yet, except some are darker than others, the fins dont look that different but the tails do on the odd one. di

Yeah the experimentation is A Very Fun Part. Seeing what happens when you cross this with This.

To cross this would be my plan of action.

  1. Breed them firstly.
  2. Rear away from all other guppies.
  3. Remove all males as they develop.
  4. Breed one or two virgin females with the male you want.
  5. Keep here and her fry away from all other guppies.
  6. Wait for the results.
The first generation of fry will not display the lyretail (feather fin) gene however the they will be carrying the genes.
A brother sister crossing from the F1 fry will then result in 50% of the fry showing the lyretail, 25% not showing it but carrying the gene and 25% with no copies of it.
So from the F2 generation back crossing a lyretail female with the best F1 male will result in 75% expressing the lyretail tail and 25% not but all carrying the gene.
Now you can allow any male to breed your know they will carry the gene.
So selecting the colours would now be the goal.

Good luck m8 :)

Also guppy meeting this weekend in Nottingham and I'm now going :)

Ive got mine, so are seen 2 short finned females which i removed, and i think ive spotted 2 or 3 long finned females, not see any males of any kind yet, but the rest are still very small. di
