Just bought a UK 20 Gallon tank. 23 in US Gallons. I was wondering whether 1 young Jaguar Cichlid would be fine to keep in a tank this size. I know that bigger is always better but do you think 1 could survive in a tank this size on its own?

Cheers

Not a chance I'm afraid, it would outgrow a 20G in 2-3 months easily,

no deffo not, they need atleast a 125g for a pair and thats pushing it, males can grow over 16inches....you need something different

I would be looking for a female and I know they only grow to around 10-12 inches. If not a Jag, how about a Jack Dempsey?
I forgot to say that the tank is 30" long 15" high 12" wide
thanks

the tank isn't big enough, certainly not wide enough, In a 20G your really limited to cichlids that get to a max of around 6"

Go for something a bit different like T.Aureus, T.Ellioti, Sajicas or Honduran Red Points

Defo not. Jags are mego aggressive . Need 125g for 1 single

Ok cheers for the help everyone! Im getting good impressions from this forum
