Jack Or Texas?

I have this fish I bought about 2 months ago from my local fish store and am confused in what kind of fish it is? The guy said it was a female Jack Dempsey but the more pics I look at of Texas cichlids I think it might one of those. It's about 4 inches right now. Could someone tell me the difference between the two and the difference between male and female?

try and get some pictures, but generaly the jack dempsy is more of an elongated fish whilst the texas is more chunky. they both come in diferent colour forms so unles we can see a picture we really kant help...
