I was thinking of maybe getting jack dempseys for my fish tank.

i dont really know much about them... does anyone have any advice/comments?

i know they are aggressive and would not be able to be kept with other fish

thanks x

no lol the community tank fish are being moved into another tank then im having new fish in the 350

i was looking for a fish thats going to stand out if you know what i mean and jack dempseys are lovely

So you're just looking to put 1 jd in a 75g tank..

You shouldn't have any problems.. don't know if there's anything else really to say

i was hoping i could put more than one in? very empty tank otherwise lol

yeah there are various NW cichlids that could go with a JD. There is likely to be some agression but if you get the fish from babies and grow them up together and provide plenty of hiding spaces in the tank you should be fine. Maybe look at firemouth's, severum's and green terror's. sure there are others but those three spring to mind. You want something that matches the JD in size and agression as much as possible.

:)

I have a 120g w/ an Oscar, a JD, and a catfish in it. I had tried 2 Oscars but the smaller one kept attacking the bigger one, so we went to the LFS to trade it in and I fell in love with a JD. I was a bit apprehensive because of their aggressive reputation, but I think I have the wimpiest JD ever!!! S/he (can't tell, LOL) is madly in love with Odin the Oscar (I thought he was a he but my LFS believes he's a she) and follows around like a lost puppy. They get along great and I adore s/he, they are truly beautiful fish
