Me Too! I just hope I can Fly there and see it some day.... Korea is kinda far.....hahahahaha!

How fun.... anyway, keep us posted!

Chuka..... now this may sound insane.... but no matter WHAT you post, there will be skeptics.... My suggestion, go to this pond and have something made ready to put in a picture... A little bit of proof.... like a little flag to stick in the ground next to it, so your not googleing a korean lake....

also, if you are feeling REALLY ambitious, and because people are SOO damn good at photoshoping little images in (such as flags next to ponds ! lol!) get some rocks and spell out "TFF" on the ground next to it.... surley that can't be faked.....anyway, as you know, I believe you, but all I ask is that you bring back some HARD evidence for your case.... then we can all see that calling out and putting down fellow members is useless! hahaha! good luck!

I measured the parameters of the water that he was in and they match my tap water.
I very much doubt the above statement.....

Why do you doubt that, we brought every fish supply we had just in case we did find fish (ph test, nets, fish food, H20 conditioner, thermometer, plastic containers, crayfish trap, etc, etc)

The only thing I could test was pH and temp, so I did and it was about 8, just like my tap water and the temp was in the 80's. I should have said I just tested pH and temp, not all of the parameters such as hardness, etc etc. So sorry for the confusion there BigC.

when u take the pics just 2 prove 2 people its u leave a shoe or something in the pic so we no u didnt just take it of another site :good:

hmmmm similar suggestion 2 mine but in more detail

I think, to be honest, it just sounds too good to be true...
1. this old man picks on you of all people
2. you actually listened, considering most people would have put him down as a fantasist
3. you actually went such a distance with no guarantee of seeing fish, rather then having him sectioned
4. you posted on here first, with no eveidence knowing you'd have a sceptical response
5. you remembered water testers, nets quite easily but no camera
6. unless i missed it you've so far not confirmed its location
7. i could go on...
I'd like to believe it and although i'm aware it IS possible i simply don't think your story adds up, however i'm finding this topic amusing and i'd love to be proven wrong......
Good luck, the best in fact only way to convince the sceptics, such as myself even with a picture would be to somehow incorparate a daily newspaper, headline and all into the pic....

lol in fact in u take a pic an sumhow incorporate the whole contents of a small corner shop into the pic then every1 in THEORY should beleive u

I understand that stuff happens in life. I agree it might've been best to wait until you got pics ot varify. But excitement osmetiems takes the best of all of us.

If you say Sunday so be it. I knwo one thing for sure, you can always PM me the pics if this thread dissapears. I would LOVE to see it whenever you get the chance however long that may be!

oh same here for sure :good:

i dont think he should have had to wait to get pics though. in a perfect world he should have been able to come and tell of his story and the skeptics would bite their tongues until such time as its needed *sighs* but i guess we dont live in a perfect world lol

anyhoo chuka, i hope you have a blast at the lake. get some awesome pics for us :)

They probably did the same thing I did, studied them in their habitat then gave caring for them a shot.

You caught a yellow lab out of a lake in America. A yellow lab is an african cichlid and therefore you didn't observe it in it's natural envronment at all. Let me guess, you have plants in the tank, other species not native to lake Malawi and are probably feeding it meaty foods such as bloodworm - therefore you aren't caring for it properly at all and I think you are sick and should be ashamed of yourself.. taking fish out of the wild just to commit them to a deathsentance.. in fact.. it ain't worth it. I don't belive ya anyway. All you'll do is google image some pictures of a tropical lake, probably in Korea or something.. stupid idiot.

EDIT - wow! page 6, looks like you got the attention you so badly craved.

almost to ridiculous to reply to but im not in the best of moods this morning and this has really &^%$#@ me off. the yellow lab may be an african cichlid but if these fish have been here for a while then they have probably been born and grown up there. to take them to an environment that mimics where they came from would be an excellent idea. its a wild fish therefore creating the same environment you took it from is what you do. water parameters are different over there so surely such a sudden change would be more detrimental than allowing the animal to live in an exact replica of its home. it may be in a lake in america however that was that particular fishes home and was well adjusted to the water parameters.

then you assume he is feeding it bloodworm. just because he doesnt know what kind of fish it is doesnt mean that he is unaware of how bad to much bloodworm can be.

you are whats wrong with this forum. calling someone sick, a stupid idiot and a liar. i think it is you who craves the attention...why else would you carry on like such a child to the point of name calling. tsk tsk you are the one who should be ashamed of yourself. grow up, catch up to the others on the forum and then you wont look so silly

of and if it aint worth it, why did you bother coming back in and editing the post lol youre too funny

So, Timmy, you would say that Chuka is carrying out cruel and unusual punishment on this poor Lake Malawi native by taking it out of an American lake that it didn't belong to in the first place?? The entire notion is completely asinine. Such a habitat can hardly be called "the wild" since this fish or its ancestors was no doubt dumped there by irresponsible fish keepers. If anything, Chuka is doing this lake a favor by leaving one less foreign fish to take away habitats and food from any species that might have been native to it. Really...why don't you get your argument straight first and make a little bit of sense before you start one.

Call me a sceptic; This is like UFO's; When I see the little gray people I'll beleive it. Don T.

Wow, someone's got man-PMS.

a few things....

Topman, sorry about the double idea there... I must have missed your post! hahaha! anyway, good to know we are on the same wavelength!

Fishlette, You coudldn't be more right! thanks for backing up the other "more positive commente"

Aquatic Dreamer, great point! I completley agree...

and finally Chuka..... I don't know what to tell you.... if you even care what these skeptics think at all, then like that other person posted, bring a newspaper with you and make sure you throw it in for a picture, if you even have the intent of bothering with the extra effort.... either way, have a great trip, take LOTS of pictures, if not for the proof for the skeptics, then for the joy of all of the others...

well thats my rant for tonight! have a good one everyone!

i was doubting that the parameters matched after you said that too. where im from, i cant even get the parameters to match even though the water is from 2 houses down, what are the chances of your tap water matching those of some random lake?

Ok, wow! I am glad the water parameter doubt is all cleared up, obviously its not too hard to match a pH, and temp, and if it is then I got lucky. Enough said about that. A person in the doubting camp said that I had remembered all my fish stuff, but not my camera, which seemed unbelievable. Well, yeah. I guess I was stupid to forget it, but I was going with the idea to catch fish, so I grabbed everything I could think of that was fish related... my bad.

I would like to thank everyone that backed me up about Timmy's less than mature comments, it was great to here that not everyone thinks I'm sick person. :) Who knows maybe he will apologize and we can be best of friends

Anyways, about the suggestions about a newspaper and what not, I am not sure if I will go that route, I don't get the paper and that more importantly, that will give away the location!!! I guess I will take a picture of me in front of the lake with a sign that says tropical fish forums and my username. If people are still doubting than it is not even worth my time to get them to believe. But, like I have said before, I totally can see how some of you would be skeptical, it is a pretty extraordinary story. But after I get pics and people still don't believe, then everyone else can at least enjoy them. So anyways, I will go no matter what tomorrow afternoon... so everyone be ready to see some pics later that night. Also, if this wasn't true, why the heck would I give my self a deadline? Oh well, I can never convince with just my words, so I'll stop trying.

Will a photo of me with a sign as described above be enough for most of you skeptics? If not, let me know a more convienent way that doesn't involve me buying a newspaper or writing messages with rocks. (they were both good ideas however). Do I need to call someone you trust from the forums, light a huge fire that makes the news (just kidding) or get a video? Would that be convincing??? A video? I have a digital camcorder, but havn't tried to post movies on the net yet. Can you do it through photobucket? Well thanks again for all the supporters and even the doubters for all your great responses and interest.

just have a flashy posterboard with big bold black righting that says TFF and your username, so oyu have a scanner? if you do buy a cheap throw away submersable camera and take underwater shots B) that way you can get pics of a few fish by eachother, then scan them to your computer and upload them on, enless you already have a submersable digital?

i cant wait to see the pics along with so many others ;)

and yes you can upload videos on photobucket, its the same prosess at photos

I must say i dont think this is unfeasible, although being a scientist I do not fully believe until i have proof. That being said it is not on any of our parts to not believe you as we have no evidence to the contrary.

Timmy, one thing i noticed: for someone who supposedly follows biotype strictly you are cruel: 1 Gold Nugget Sailfin Plec (L001/L022). It certainly doesnt come from lake Malawi and you keep it in that tank. Who is cruel? I dont think it is appropriate for you to be so critical, this person has stumbled on something that could be quite amazing, and we should be patient until we see proof. He has done the right thing asking for help with identifying, and from the sound of it has researched what he needs to do to keep these fish. This is meant to be a friendly forum, not a sea of flaming: you should be ashamed.

Goodluck Chuka.
