I have decided to get some ottos as my 'algae eaters' but am wondering what a good quantity would be.
I have heard that there must be no less than 4 for them to be happy.

EDIT:
65 us gal
so far:
2 Angels, 2 Dwarf Gouramies

Hi there- the size of your tank and how long it has been set-up as well as what other fish you plan to keep would be very helpful to try and help answer your questions! :D

4 would be fine... its fun to watch them - takes longer to do a head count the more you have...

You have such a nice large tank and otos are known to have a high mortality rate at first. (but if they get through the first few months they do well). I would have to agree with fish buddy and start with six. That way, you can be sure that some will be around for a while.

They will be a fun addition to your tank and are very diligent little workers

If what was just said is true, let your tank fully cycle and stabilize over a few months or so. Add a few fish at a time and there shuldn't eb any problem.

Add as many as you can provide for (in terms of food and/or algae).
