Ive Beaten Dropsy!

Yep thats right! I received a female about 1.5 weeks ago from a seller on aquabid and she had a case of Dropsy. After many many water changes and melafix w/ salt, shes finally recovered! I am still continuing minor dosages of medication just to make sure, but shes been symptom free for...3 days now. Ill go for 5 then I will stop medication =P

I will get a picture up soon! I have a before on my phone, but its terrible and you cant see the scales sticking out!

sometimes the scales stick out from consitpation or other things, is not always the same cause dropsy is a sympton not a disease, it can sometimes be treated but does very much depend on the cause. Melafix wouldnt have treated an internal bacterial probem, which is the usual cause

Im pretty sure it was Dropsy though. She was abnormally huge and her scales were midly out, then within a few days, they were sticking out badly.

Either way, just keeping persistent never hurts =P

She also knows who I am now with all the check ups and TLC I gave her. lol. She takes food off my finger and swims up to me when I walk in the room.

no one said it wasn't dropsy, just that dropsy itself is not a disease. that's why it's so hard to treat, it's a symptom of many different problems.

Wonderful news to all of us whom DREAD that it will happen to our bettas!
Ive treated a few of my girls here and there over the months, and not succeeded in winning the battle
Anyone who has has a betta fall ill with dropsy knows how stressful and sad it is to watch them suffer. So again CONGRATS!!!
