You don't really need to wait at all, as long as you've given enough time for the water to mix; five minutes is plenty.

another test question . if its says leave a water test 5 mins and you leave it longer will it change or is after 5 mins ok ?

A few extra minutes isn't a big deal... a few hours can mean a change in color.
