i'v got 3 hunchback guppy fry in my fry tank they seem to be doing fine at the moment except they cant swim as good as the other fry i was just wondering what there chances are of surviving.
xxx thanx for any replies xxx

Hunchback fry or fry with kinks in them are a sign they are too inbred, are they belly crawelers by any chance(i.e they hang around the bottom of the tank alot and don't appear to be able to swim at mid level or at the top of the tank and only ever come up for food etc)?

no there not belly crawlers thetre actualy quite active.

yeh i think they r inbred but the mother was preggie when i got her so there was nothing i could do about that

If they are just hunchbacks they should be ok but watch out for genetic swim bladder disorders as these are very common in inbred fish and there isn't that much you can do about them apart from put the fry down.
You have to ask yourself though wether you want to keep these fry though because as they grow as it'll be a bad idea to bred them so if you have a mixed gender group of guppys you may have to buy a tank of their own to prevent them from breeding and passing on the bad genes- unfortunatly practically all lfs's will not take them as they are deformed/inbred.
If you cannot find space for them, putting them down now is the best time to do it unless you can find a friend who wants them.
Sorry for all the depressing news :/

i wont put them down not if they will be alright on there own i'll keep them and mke sure they get extra care.

just 1 more question will they be alright in the fry tank with the other fry while there still small.

dont no how it got there but i went to the fish store yesterday and there was a fully grown deformed male guppy on sale

Yep they'll be fine with the other fry and won't need much in the way of extra care in comparison to normal fry, they should do fine but as i said just watch out for swimbladder problems
Good luck with raising them and im sure your fy will grow into very rewarding fish as they grow if they survive :)

thanx well i'm really happy that they will be alrigh  :) :fun:  t
thanx again ur a big help

I have one that stays at the bottom mostly, but he does venture up every now and then (not just for food)... Is he okay?

If he still wanders around at different levels in the tank he is most likely fine, but if he spends practically all his time at the bottom of the tank this isn't a very good sign- somtimes when a mother fish gives birth not all the frys swimbladders fill up with enough air causing them to constantly swim around the bottom of the tank.
The fish's swimbladder is basically there so the fish can swim at different levels and positions in the water, and belly crawlers often suffer from swimbladder disorders at an early age and die.
There seems to be some sort of link between belly crawlers and inbred fry which is why i asked :) .
