It's Been Over 5 Years And I'm Getting Back Into The Hobby

Purchased a 55 gallon tank 4 weeks ago. Started cycling with some danios and nitrite keeps stalling so I've been doing tons of water changes! Haven't lost a fish yet. They will be given to neighbor when cycling is finished and then I will start stocking cichlids. Hopefully this won't take much longer bc I've been fighting these nitrite levels for a week now. Already been researching fish and my first few will be yellow labs and yes I'm only going to add a few at a time I also have a 5 gallon betta tank. any advice is always welcome. Nice to meet everyone!
