One of my oldest AND my baby Silver Dollar are dead this morning.

Unknown as to why for the largest one, although she is THE most skiddish.........as for the little one it died from a LONG battle of fungus.........

I am very sad and feel blue..........my son woke me up this morning telling me about them and I came out and saw him just watching them. They were peacefully lying on the bottom; DEAD. I started to cry........

I just feel like giving up..........or changing my username :-(

Oh no :( I'm really sorry for your loss, silver. I hope you can find a way to move on, get the tank working for your babies and try again. Silver dollars are so pretty.

Good luck with your next ones, and I hope you do have better fortunes. :(

:byebye:

Poor babies.

THanks........
there is just something icky about seeing such a HUGE fish dead........ :-(

It's a very strange thing too, let me explain.

These two dead fish were my first 2 SDs to get sick with fungus.....the smaller one that died got it first and man is it a bugger. I couldn't get rid of it....no matter WHAT!!!!!!! My larger one that died was the second SD to get it, but after a week or so in my hospital tank it seemed okay and hasn't gotten it again since then. My 3rd SD to get it is still alive and still has it and my largest SD never got it and is still alive as well. So I have one strange death of a large SD that seemed "otherwise" fine and one death of the smallest one that did in fact have fungus still.

I went to Petsmart last night to try YET another fungal med. and I picked out PIMAFIX, it's suppose to be all natural, but on the inside flap it says that "THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS A CHEMICAL KNOWN TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA TO CAUSE CANCER OR BIRTH DEFECTS OR OTHER REPRODUCTIVE HARE" can you believe that?? How natural is this junk. Anyhow, a couple hours after adding THE EXACT reccomended dosage ALL 4 of my Silver Dollars were swimming VERY close to the top and breathing EXTREMLEY fast and gasping for air out of the water. Now, any long term SD owners will know that SDs do NOT behave like this. They aren't upper-strata swimmers. But all of my other fish seemed A-OK!!?? They were breathing SOOOO rapidly that I said (at 2:20 AM) this is it I've HAD IT and did a 25% water change to bring the med concentration down. Temperature was fine and then this morning........well, you know what happened.

:-(

Ouch, yeah, I know how that feels. Even losing the small ones sucks royally. I'd cry for days if I lost either Moe or Pearl. They are such darlings. :(

*hug*

Hey silver, sorry 4 the loss, but at least u have a good excuse to visit the lfs  , had a similar thing 2 weeks back with gouramis.........not gonna keep gouramis for a while :(

 I'm sorry Silver. :rip: :fish:

:-( When my 6 month old balloon molly Mandy died a few days ago, tears flooded down my face. I had to keep my mind occupied throughout the day or I would think of her and start to cry again. That must have been the sadest day of my entire life, so I know how you feel.

:-( :D im sorry to hear about your loss silver (funny enough i was at my lfs today getting some aquasafe had alook in the tanks and there was a lovely 6" sd and i though that you would have loved this fish ) we are all saddened to hear your loss

i am sorry for your loss, is your son ok? is he old enough to understand? my granddaughter saw my dalmation molly pogo floating and then got away from my daughter and cauaght me handling it. she is just 2 and she cried because i wouldn't make pogo kiss at her again.

Hey Silver.... I'm soooo sorry to hear of your loss :byebye: :( . Please don't give up... and don't change your name! You've still got other babies to take care of.

We're all rooting for you!

Val

I took that medicine back to Petsmart today and told them about what had been happening and what happened and about the warining of cancer causing chemicals on the bottle. I really got them riled up!!! They insisted on replacing my 2 Silver Dollars so I went and looked at their larger ones (about 1/8 the size of my big one I lost :-( ) and 1 or two had a tiny TINY bit a fungus on them so I passed on those ones. Then they showed me their smaller SDs (Oh so cute) but 2 of them had wierd bumps under their scales (tumors maybe :dunno: ) so I passed on those too. They ended up giving me TWO RAINBOW FISH that are $12 a piece and I was very pleased with that!!!

I miss my SDs and I do feel bad, but they replaced the medication with some different kind that I am familiar with and gave me $25 dollars worth of fish!! I am very proud of my LFS today!!

:rip: My poor little SDs!!! :-( :-( :-(

:)

Dont give up for christs sake, fish die all the time, they're not in their natural environment - they're bound to have a shorter life span. Get a couple more.

I'm so sorry Silver, :-( I can only imagine what you're going through right now. GL with your other SDs and your rainbow fish.

Sorry to hear about your SD's. Funny how we become so attached to our fish. We have 2 SD's and one of them is almost full grown. He also has a slight fungus problem on one of his top fins. It's not bad but he's had it for about 2 weeks.

Good luck with your new fish. Maybe in the future you'll decide to get a couple of baby SD's.
