Its A Lose Lose Situation.

its a very good thread indeed. iv read over it previously and have indeed gained some good pointers.
i wouldnt consider myself a beginner fishkeeper, i've kept and bred many many species of south/central american cichlids including many of the rarer species, but when it comes to the planted tank im a complete newbie.
you've been a great help. many thanks.

2 different things altogether. lol

Fishkeepers tend to be a bit controlling and testing, non trusting of their aquarium's balance

When you transfer this into the planted side then this practice can cause problems because constant testing can mean false conclusions due to the grade of test kits that most of us have available.

Also fishkeepers have had Ph, Temperature, hard/soft blah de blah hammered into them where most of us in planted ignore virtually all of these with no problems.

I let my tank go. It looks after itself. Fishkeepers hearing I add excess nitrates, excess phosphate, copper, iron, CO2 gasp in horror and call me a poisoner!!!!

It's not their fault as that is what they have always known and old theories linger on forever hence why mother's still follow things like warm babies bedrooms and catching colds from being out in the cold!!!. lol
