Fish Herder
Will be doing this from now on
Decide to have another go with the blue/yellow and green gas HM pair as well as my copper SD and gold HM. Any way this time i decided to try a new way of doing it (always trying to find the bets way to spawn my fish) and after doing allot of extra research into thai betta farms i decided to drop the tank idea all together so.....i am spawning in a poly box
(its a big one so don't panic)
You may laugh but it seems most if not all betta farms spawn in these or what we would class as washing up bowls, they have no protection for the girl, just a bit of IAL and the chimney to start with. think the privacy of an enclosed box keeps them concentrating on the job at hand.
heres a pic of my set up with the copper and gold, the blue/yellow is the same but he has half a polly cup
must like it...look at all them bubbles
Right so..great...no
i couldn't see the nest, well under it any way and as i'm at work all day i couldn't risk just letting um be, after all no protection means she is at higher risk, meaning i need to watch very closely. Then i remembered 5teady saying abou how he let his females go for a lil while then put them back in the chimney to relese them the day after. I thought by doing this i can release her when i am around.
I let both females out last night for about 3-4 hours then put them back when i went to bed, just let them out again and bobs ya uncle fannies ya aunt they were doing the do within seconds
. No rips, no bites, no agression.
Lets hope me blue/yellow and green gas do better this time....no snails
So yea any way thank you 5teady for sharing tat on here as it works a treat.
(now sits and waits to be ripped into about the box
)
*DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend the use of a poly box and no cover for first time tries at spawning. Spawning takes quite a bit of practice and a good way to start practicing is with the glass chimney in the glass tank. once you feel confident that you can judge the aggressiveness of the pair you are spawning you could move on to trying this method*
