We had this discussion the other week and I was told to get just a bubble through sponge for my breeding \ fry tank.
But today I was given the smallest power head I've ever seen, 5 watts. It has a long legnth of tube for the suction side.
If I get a large piece of sponge (like fluval 4 sponge and block the hole in the end), or alternatively slice open a car wash sponge,
do you think it will be slow enough to NOT suck up new born fry or eggs? cheers

It's not the watts its the gph/lph you need to look at. An air driven sponge filter is the best way to go.

I'll wire up the little thing this afternoon and see what the through-put is like.
