Is This Wood Ok?

i found this wood today which i would like to put in my tank, i havent cleaned or soaked it yet.

would it be ok?

They look fine but what are they? Where they from a dead tree?

i dont know what they are, i found them in the woods, i have scrubbed and cleaned the smaller one and taken the bark off, it is currently soaking in boiling water, then im gunna dry it out in the airing cupboard.

it had falled off a tree by the looks of them, they used to be joined togther but i smashed it on the floor to snap it
