Hey,

I have just moved my crowntail betta his name is "boss" form his old 1/2 gallon tank to this 10 gallon tank (half full)

I would like ot know if this is the proper setup for bettas

I currently have 2 sponge filters running, one is a double head and one is a single head... the single head had been in my main tank for about 1 week before i moved it to here.

I have a 50w Heater set at roughly 80 degrees.

I have two fake plants that are held down by gravel and a few marbles

Then I have java moss sitting in one corner of the tank.

Would I benefit from putting a serand wrap over the top of the tank to prevent heat loss?

Two clay pots one is laying on the side (I hear bettas only want caves that they can see all the way threw and have another way out?)and the other is standing upside down so he can chose to rest on it.

Could i use this as a breeding tank in the future?

Was going to put some pics up but cant seem to do it the forum says "You are not allowed to use that image extension on this board. "

He's so pretty! Looks kinda like mine with the red fins. Your heater isn't sticking out past the minimum line is it? Let us know if he likes the pots? I would love to use one in my betta tank too :)

Your heater needs to be moved as mentioned :) or just fill the tank up a little more.
Also you could only use this as a breeding tank if there was somewhere else for your male to live.

Looking good though, I have all my males in bare bottom tanks, I find it so much easier to keep clean :)

The best way would be to check the heater is self, they normal have a 'minimum water level' line. Its normally under the to part of the heater on the glass, unless its a fully submersible one

I like to keep mine all the way under just in case. I don't think you HAVE to have it all the way in. But if our water evaporates your heater would be sticking out too far.

The tank looks great. Are the plants plastic or silk?
Bettas have very delicate fins and plastic edges can tear them.
Also make sure you plug any small holes at the bottom of the pots. Bettas are very nosey and can injure themselves trying to swim through small holes.

Tank looks fine, if you are planning on breeding as said you will need another tank for the male once he's finished and the female will have to live separate from the male too.

Please please do loads & loads of research before breeding, there not easy trust me on that! I researched for months, took a few years before I even tried breeding

one plant is plastic, I did the pantyhose test on it however and it didnt catch. So would this be okay? What signs do I look for in my betta if this plant is hurting him or his tail?
